“What if I give myself permission to eat what I want, will I ever be able to stop?”
“What if I can’t handle bad or hard feelings when they come up, will I ever stop crying?”
You are so “normal” to think these kinds of thoughts.
Having these fears shows you how embedded your “diet mentality” and “avoidance practices” really are.
When these thoughts/fears/doubts come up, picture each scenario going to the “nth” degree. How bad could it really be?
You will see with time that the “worst case scenario” really isn’t as bad as you first thought.
You will then be able to “go outside your box” of comfort and familiarity and venture into your emotionally healthy future.
Next time one of these negative and fearful feelings present themselves to you…follow it out to the end in your mind and then “just go for it“.
